Cop Indicted for Allegedly Attacking Woman in Apartment Hours After Receiving Award
An NYPD officer has been indicted for allegedly drunkenly breaking into a woman's Bronx apartment and brutally assaulting her in June - just hours after he was given one of the Department's highest honors. Eugene Donnelly, 27, was awarded the Police Combat Cross on June 10 for reportedly taking down a suspect who fired a gun at him in 2012 while he was off duty.

The shooting occurred around 8:35 p.m. in the 6600 block of South Talman in the Marquette Park neighborhood, Chicago police said. When authorities arrived, the boy was lying on a sidewalk with a gunshot wound to his torso. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
