YFF Panelists Talk Importance of Mentors When Pursuing Goals

The Root’s Young, Fabulous and Female series kicked off 2015 in Washington, D.C. Tuesday, Jan. 27 at the Long View Gallery. On-air personality and journalist Jummy Olabanji acted as the moderator. Panelists were Amanda Brown, executive director of the National Women’s Business Council; Dr. Natasha Sandy, a board-certified physician specializing in dermatology; Rahama Wright, founder, president and CEO of Shea Yeleen, which specializes in selling fair-trade shea butter from African countries, Addie Whisenant, White House Director of African American Media; and Eunique Jones Gibson, creator of the Because of Them, We Can campaign. The evening provided thought-provoking conversation about the challenges that young black women face and how to overcome them successfully. This is Part 3 of the series.
