YFF Panelists Discuss Starting a Business & Gaining Respect

The Root’s Young, Fabulous and Female series kicked off 2015 in Washington, D.C. Tuesday, Jan. 27 at the Long View Gallery. On-air personality and journalist Jummy Olabanji acted as the moderator. Panelists were Amanda Brown, executive director of the National Women’s Business Council; Dr. Natasha Sandy, a board-certified physician specializing in dermatology; Rahama Wright, founder, president and CEO of Shea Yeleen, which specializes in selling fair-trade shea butter from African countries, Addie Whisenant, White House Director of African American Media; and Eunique Jones Gibson, creator of the Because of Them, We Can campaign. The evening provided thought-provoking conversation about the challenges that young black women face and how to overcome them successfully. This is Part 4 of the series.
