Although homelessness is often represented in the media with one stereotypical image, there is no one face to homelessness. In 2002, it was estimated that more than 1.6 million youth experience homelessness in the US each year.
"Self-destruction" is a piece that was written to bring awareness and hopefully a solution to the violence going on with Chicago youth. Ironically, the only solution to this self-destructing culture is to self-destruct ourselves in a way that is sacrificial for the greater good.
