RALEIGH, N.C. (WKRC) -- A 93-year-old woman now has a library card more than 70-years after being denied one because of her race. Pearl Thompson was a college student in 1942 when she went to a Raleigh, North Carolina library to check out a book for a report. But Thompson was turned down because she was African-American. She had to read the book in the library's basement and return it. When local librarians heard Thompson's story, they wanted to right a wrong. Thompson finally got her library card at a ceremony. She said it was an honor to get her wish fulfilled. Follow us on Twitter @Local12 and LIKE us on Facebook for updates!
